The Robin Hood Shop thrift store opened in 1957 and generates revenue for the hospital auxiliary. Open six days a week the thrift shop has been a staple in the community for years. Income generated through the Robin Hood Shop and the Hospitality Shop has assisted in renovations, new equipment and services held at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester.
The Robin Hood Shop welcomes most donations with the exception of computer equipment and large furniture. Staff and volunteers ensure all items donated are used by someone. If their high standard of quality is not met or the item doesn’t sell, they are donated to Planet Aid or other charities. Books that haven’t sold are donated to the Veterans Hospital and the Detention Center.
The Robin Hood Shop also offers a group text option to alert customers of special coupons and sale dates. Community service hours are available for high school juniors and seniors.
