Riverside Lodge

Riverside Lodge

Formerly known as the Hoopers Island Gun Club, the Riverside Lodge on Hoopers Island is an all inclusive outdoor resort that operates year round. The main lodge has been on- site in Hoopersville since the early 1900’s, and was reconstructed to its original design in 1968 after a fire in 1967 and continues to have the same memorabilia, furnishings, and nostalgia still.

The property was in the Doeller family for four generations- since 1940 and operated as an invite-only hunting experience during the 6-week duck hunting season. The new owners and caretakers, Gary and Peggy McQuitty have since opened the Lodge to the public for the first time ever.

The deeded 1,000 acres of land consists of marshland and woodland with 9 large ponds and miles of waterfront. The Lodge is available year round as an all-inclusive resort that provides many additional activities both during and outside of duck hunting season. With access to the Honga River and Chesapeake Bay guests can enjoy fishing, crabbing, jet skiing, kayaking, day trips to Smith Island and Solomon’s Island and relaxing.
