Patriot Steel Fabrication, Inc. (PSFI) is a structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator and erector located in Church Creek. Founded in 2014 as a family business by Carl and Nathan Uncapher, Patriot Steel Fabrication has grown from a two man operation to 28 employees in the office and field doing installations. They anticipate that once the Maryland Offshore Wind projects officially begin they could double their size of employees and expand into available space in their 60,000 square foot warehouse.
Patriot Steel was awarded the Maryland Offshore Wind Capital Expenditure Grant which enabled them to purchase their newest piece of advanced technology, a CNC robotic steel fabricator. Amongst the many capabilities that the robotic CNC machine offers, PSFI utilizes the machine to channel, angle, create tubing, bevels, finish, and drill holes in steel. With the addition of this equipment they are able to complete some projects in 3-4 minutes versus the 45 minutes it previously took. Patriot Steel is able to support other local fabricators process their projects due to the rapid throughput the machine offers
Some of the recent projects PSFI is working on include the shipping supports for the giant wind turbine blades for transport across the Atlantic ocean as well as the grading platforms within the wind turbines. Locally, they are fabricating components used in the new free standing medical facility that is under construction in the Cambridge Marketplace.
