Dorchester is bringing awareness to dangers of substance abuse by Going Purple in the month of September. Many local businesses have joined the campaign by adding purple lights on the outside of their building. Dorchester Goes Purple is hosting a boat parade on the Choptank Friday September 28th.
The Purple Boat Parade will begin at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, travel down the Choptank River, and go into the Cambridge Creek.
To participate in the parade, boaters are asked to pre-register on www.dorchestergoespurple.org website under “events”.
Also, everyone with a boat, a dock, a home, or a business along the waterfront is encouraged to light up with purple that night and every night in September as part of this initiative and donate to the cause.
