Oysters, Pit Beef, Music and More on Hoopers Island
The Hoopers Island Aquaculture Company – producers of Dorchester’s renowned Chesapeake Gold Oysters – will hold their second annual Oyster Fest on Saturday, October 26 to benefit the American Heart Association. Festivities are from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. with live music, tours and an all-you-can-eat feast of oysters, pit beef, hotdogs for the children, and accompaniments. Tickets are $35 and $40 a person after October 18. Children under 12 are free.
The Oyster Fest takes place at the company’s headquarters on Hoopers Island at 2500 Old House Point Road. Beer, wine and desserts are available for purchase. Brewmasters from Heavy Seas Brewery will also be on hand showcase their craft beers.
One of Dorchester County’s fastest-growing sustainable aquaculture farms, Chesapeake Gold Oysters are farmed in the Chesapeake using specially designed and manufactured equipment. Co-owned by Johnny Shockley and Ricky Fitzhugh, the company recently opened their new processing plant.
