The Dorchester County Economic Development Office (DCED) completed its annual report and presented it to the Dorchester County Council and the public on November 3, 2015. The presentation highlighted achievements and initiatives throughout the previous fiscal year.
Keasha Haythe, director of the DCED spoke about opportunities and challenges of attracting prospects. Highlights from the annual report include 27 site visits and tours in Dorchester County. 54 jobs were created through attraction and expansion. More than 700 companies were contacted for attraction and expansion.
Goals and priorities for DECD include business development, expansion, and retention initiatives. The Dorchester Regional Technology Park remains a business development priority. Construction of The Eastern Shore Innovation Center, the Eastern Shore’s first full-purpose business incubator, will be completed in January 2016. The technology incubator will strengthen Dorchester County’s economy by creating the infrastructure, environment and network to help entrepreneurs and small business owner’s start or expand their businesses.
