First County Profile Published by Newsmedia, a Partnership

The Dorchester Banner will debut a new business development resource on October 31 with the release of Choose Dorchester: A Profile of a County on the Move. The Banner’s publisher, Independent NewsMedia Inc. USA, partnered with Dorchester County Economic Development (DCED) to produce the 48-page, high-quality color magazine featuring profiles of the county’s business, residential, recreational and industrial assets.

“With helpful demographic, economic, community, school, and government information, we believe this new magazine will be a tremendous addition to our business development toolkit,” said DCED Director Keasha Haythe.

The free publication was produced and printed by NewsMedia at no cost to the county. Funded by advertisements, the initial circulation of 7,000 copies will be distributed through the DCED office and local businesses.

“I envision “Choose Dorchester” as a key component in Economic Development’s relocation packets for both businesses and individuals,” said Dave Cannon, the Banner’s Advertising Manager and project coordinator.

Planned to be an annual publication, Cannon believes “Choose Dorchester” will be a great way to introduce the county to new residents, as well as those who simply might be thinking of coming here – employers, retirees and even those looking for a change of pace and better way of life.

The Dorchester County Economic Development office will mail out or issue 5,000 copies of “Choose Dorchester,” and another 2,000 copies will be distributed through local businesses.

Independent NewsMedia Inc. USA has published similar profile magazines for Delaware’s Sussex and Kent Counties.
