Bay Country Shop | Dorchester County EDA

The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center construction students recently volunteered to help renovate a vacant building in Vienna.  Students in Pete Pietras’s Carpentry class and Danny Insley’s Electricity class participated in the project. The abandoned building in Vienna was selected to be renovated for the town’s new Dorchester County Sheriff’s Substation.

The Carpentry students were tasked with squaring the entry door jamb and hanging the front door. The Electrical students performed the following tasks: wiring the main electrical panel and installing a motion sensing light fixture for the rear of the building, ran supply power for a new HVAC system, replaced an interior chandelier style light fixture, installed an exterior light fixture near front entrance, and mounted a weather-proof exterior receptacle.

The vision of the Dorchester Career and Technology Center is to provide a well-prepared workforce for area employers as well as well-prepared students to be successful in post-secondary training or college.
