The Six Million Dollar Class! (2017)

Cambridge-South Dorchester High School and North Dorchester High School conducted spirited and joyous commencement exercises! C-SDHS awarded diplomas to 137 graduates, while NDHS awarded diplomas to 105 graduates. This was a cohort of fifteen fewer students than in 2016, although overall graduation rates are expected to be higher when the official graduation rates are announced in January of 2018.

The exceptionally exciting news is with regard to scholarship earnings. Below are the figures from the last six years:

2011 – $2,398,195 2014 – $3,780,108

2012 – $2,940,403 2015 – $5,293,735

2013 – $4,130,676 2016 – $5,134,499

C-SDHS Principal Dave Bromwell announced a scholarship total of $3,059,964.00 and counting. NDHS Principal Lynn Sorrells announced a scholarship total of $3,173,520.00 and counting. This represents a 21% increase from the previous year accomplished by fewer graduates!

Reaching the six-million-dollar plateau is a tribute to the academic achievement of this cohort, along with the dedicated efforts of all staff and parents who have worked with these scholars during high school and throughout their school careers. It also speaks to the increased community involvement reflected over the years in our volunteer hours, community partnerships, advisory councils, and other initiatives.

Congratulations!
