Protect Yourself from Mosquitos
The warmer weather has arrived and so have the mosquitos. While not typical in Dorchester County, mosquitos can transfer disease. The Zika Virus is primarily spread through mosquito bites but sexual transmission has also been documented. About 80% of people who are infected do not become sick. The most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis. The virus is most risky for women who are trying to become or already are pregnant.
Prevention is key. Please remember to wear repellent, eliminate standing water on your home and business properties. Wear long sleeved shirts and long pants when you can. Please share this information with business owners that have employees required to work outside.
