Looking for a job? There are several job openings in Dorchester County and the surrounding areas. Employers in Dorchester County alone have listed over 1800 jobs in the last 60 days on the Maryland Workforce Exchange. A total of 349 separate job orders covering 1860 different positions were entered in the months of October and November. Several local businesses are hiring and positions run from welders to poultry workers. Dorchester County Economic Development works closely with the Department of Labor and Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) to provide businesses with job related resources. DLLR has many programs and services available that provide job development and employment training to help citizens get the skills and expertise they need to join Maryland’s workforce. The Maryland Business Works, an incumbent worker training program that is currently being offered by DLLR in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Commerce. The program supports retention, growth and expansion for small businesses and requires a dollar-for-dollar match by the employer. Patriot Steel Fabrication, Inc. (PSFI) is a steel fabricator specializing in rails and stairs located in Cambridge, Maryland. PSFI is regionally focused on Washington DC, Baltimore, and the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware. However, they ship products nationwide via a common carrier. PSFI is able to assist General Contractors and the larger fabricators with their miscellaneous fabricating requirements. PSFI opened two years ago and employ 12 people. They are expanding and have the following positions open. Shop Helper/Welder, Entry Level Position: experience is not required but is a bonus. Candidate should be interested in a shop atmosphere. If applicant is not experienced, include relevant classes/courses taken in high school or College. Duties will include: quality control, learning to read drawings and blueprints, small deliveries to jobsites and MIG Welding steel. Grinding, printing and drilling and use of band-saws. The Dorchester County Economic Development Office has a rare employment opportunity for a part-time incubator manager at the Eastern Shore Innovation Center. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the business incubator located within the Dorchester Regional Technology Park. In addition, responsibilities include developing, implementing and managing the “innovation network” for Dorchester County. The incubator manager will be responsible for providing community leadership regarding entrepreneurship and economic development innovations in our region. Minimum education requirements are graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and BA/BS degree in business or other related field.  A concentration in business is preferred.
